Lake Champlain was witness to history in the making. Many famous maritime battles were fought on the lake and and the relics of these ships lie at the bottom of the lake. The state of Vermont has created an underwater historical preserve, on a trial basis, which divers can enjoy. This underwater preserve is administered out of the state capital of Montpelier, VT.

The Newfane Common is a picturesque area of the town of Newfane, VT. Facing west on Route 30 the Common is home to the Windham County Court House, Union Hall and the Meeting House of the First Congregational Church. Many events and activities are held at the Newfane Common throughout the year.
