Windsor Bridges & Dams
• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide to Bridges & Dams in Windsor, VT, Vermont.
Bowers Bridge is located in West Windsor and is also sometimes known as Brownsville Bridge. It was built in the early 1900s by an unknown craftsman and uses a simple arch-truss constructed of a laminate of five ten-inch planks.
There have been three previous bridges at this location across the Connecticut River and all were destroyed by floods. The bridge links Vermont and New Hampshire and is a site of historical importance since at 449 ft (137m) it is the longest wooden bridge in the US and the longest two-span wooden bridge in the world.
